Fulham manager Marco Silva has lauded Alex Iwobi for his adaptability and technical skills. The 28-year-old has impressed fans with his ability to shine in various midfield positions.
Iwobi’s playing style is defined by exceptional technical ability, possession retention, and creative flair. Known for controlling the tempo, he thrives in possession-based teams and handles pressure with ease.
One of Iwobi’s standout qualities is his ability to retain possession, even under intense pressure. His skills allow him to drop deep and rotate with full-backs to build attacks, while his dribbling enables him to maneuver in tight spaces.
According to Silva, Iwobi’s versatility is one of his greatest strengths. “He is a really versatile player that can play in many positions,” Silva stated. He highlighted that Iwobi prefers a central midfield role, but has also excelled on the left and right flanks.
This season, Iwobi’s adaptability has been evident in matches against Manchester City and Crystal Palace, where his tactical flexibility allowed him to perform different roles. Silva pointed out Iwobi’s defensive contribution, following Tyrick Mitchell in key moments, and his ability to assist goals, including one for Harry Wilson.
Iwobi, who recently became Nigeria’s all-time Premier League assist leader, continues to show his quality. However, his role with the Super Eagles has seen a reduction in his creative output, as he often plays in a deeper position. Despite a quiet performance against Benin Republic, his overall talent remains unquestioned.
