Jang Congratulates Plateau PDP, Commends Gov. Mutfwang for Peaceful Congress

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, has congratulated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State for successfully conducting a peaceful congress, describing it as a significant milestone in strengthening the party’s unity and internal democracy.

The Plateau State chapter of the PDP held its congress on Saturday, marking what many observers described as one of the most peaceful exercises in the party’s recent history.

In a statement issued in Jos and signed by his Media Consultant, Clinton Garuba, Senator Jang commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his leadership and dedication to ensuring a transparent and credible congress.

“Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to democratic principles and party unity has been crucial in achieving this. His efforts have fostered an atmosphere of trust and confidence, reflecting the faith the people of Plateau State have placed in him,” the statement read.

Jang noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress, where most candidates emerged through consensus, demonstrated the strong bond between Governor Mutfwang and the people. He added that the impressive turnout of supporters showed the governor’s continued popularity and the people’s readiness to stand by him beyond his current tenure.

“The turnout of party supporters in their thousands indicates that those who voted for Governor Mutfwang in 2023 remain firmly behind him and will again support him in 2027,” he said.

The former governor, who is a founding member of the PDP, also commended the immediate past party executives led by Chris Hassan for their purposeful and disciplined leadership, which helped maintain stability within the party.

He further congratulated the newly elected state party executives, led by Chief Raymond Dabo, expressing confidence in their ability to work harmoniously with Governor Mutfwang in advancing the party’s development agenda.

“The success of this congress is a testament to Governor Mutfwang’s vision and the people’s mandate. We are confident that Plateau State will continue to thrive under his leadership, and we assure him of our unwavering support in deepening democracy both within the PDP and across the state,” Jang stated.

The congress outcome has been widely praised by party stakeholders and political observers as a model of peaceful political engagement in Nigeria’s democracy.
