JOHESU Commences Indefinite Nationwide Strike Action

… Kicks against FG N 6.5 billion offer out of N22 .6 billion

..Accuse FG of non- challant ,bias, lackadaisical attitude towards health workers demands

The Joint Health Sector Unions , JOHESU and it’s affiliate Assembly of Healthcare Professionals Association, AHPA , Thursday declared an indefinite nationwide strike action to press home their unmet demands .
A release issued by JOHESU to journalists, read, ” Consequent upon non- challant , bias and lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Ministry of Health against JOHESU after a meeting on Monday 8th May 2023 has directed it’s members in all Federal Health Institutions nationwide to withdraw their services indefinitely commencing from 00:00 hours on Thursday,25th May , 2023.

The Union lamented that contrary to negotiations with the Federal Government on salaries , it offered N6.5 billion which was rejected out of the N22.6 billion agreement prepared by the National Salaries and Wages Commission, NSIWC ,agreed in 2017 terms of Settlement

The Union further noted that the N22.6 billion which is to cater for the adjustment of CONHESS Scale as was never presented to President Mohammadu Buhari for approval.

JOHESU listed issues in dispute with the Federal Ministry of Health includes adjustment of Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS, payment of peculiar allowances to health workers under the aegis of JOHESU/ AHPA.

“Implementation of the Consultant Cadre Circular for Pharmacists in all Federal Health Institutions (FHIs).”

“Payment of all withheld salaries of members in Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and outstanding April and May, 2018 salaries of members in Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare.”

Payment of health workers excluded in the payment of new Hazard Allowances and related issues boarding on unpaid salaries of members.
