Kabba Explosion: Police Confirm One Person Killed, Others Sustain Injury In Kogi

The Kogi state Police Command has confirmed one person killed and others wounded during an explosion at a drinking joint, Labi bear parlour, Lewu junction, Kabba in Kogi state on Wednesday night,
suspected to be Gas Explosion.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Kogi state SP William Aya who confirmed the incident said “Immediately, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Edward Egbuka received the report, he deployed teams of personnel from Police Mobile Force, Quick Response Unit as well as conventional Officers to the scene along with the Military personnel to control access and evacuated the victims to Hospital.

“During the process, one Aisha who was injured by the explosion and evacuated to the hospital later died while the injured ones are currently receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police also directed Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence investigation into the incident along with the personnel of the Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) to unravel the cause of the explosion.

“The Commissioner of Police urges members of the public to go about their lawful business while reiterating the Command’s level of commitment in synergy with other security agencies in ensuring safety of lives and property.”

Though police put casualty figures at one and linked the explosion to gas, but locales said three persons died and the explosion may be more than gas.

The locale said the cooking gas was still there and the explosion sounded like a dynamite, “I just left there now. The explosion was volcanic and heavy.”
