Kaduna Students Pledge to Avoid Protests, Says Governor Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State announced that students in the state have promised not to participate in the planned nationwide protests. He received this assurance while addressing attendees at the Students’ Development Summit, organized by his Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs. The summit, themed “Student-Centric Governance: Celebrating 365 Days of Senator Uba Sani’s Impactful Leadership,” highlighted the administration’s achievements and future plans.

During his speech, Governor Sani noted that various speakers praised his administration’s dedication to enhancing the educational system and rural revitalization efforts in Kaduna State. He also mentioned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited a flawed system from the previous administration, emphasizing the challenges faced by the current government.

Governor Sani outlined several educational accomplishments, including allocating 25% of the state budget to education, reducing tuition fees for state-owned tertiary institutions, constructing 62 new schools, revamping the scholarship board to better serve underprivileged students, rehabilitating classrooms, and providing extensive training for teachers. He shared his personal experience as the Northern Coordinator of the Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Scheme, which has helped numerous students complete their higher education and contribute significantly to national development.

Expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly the youth, Governor Sani urged the students to avoid any protest activities that could disrupt the peace in Kaduna State. The students assured him they would refrain from protesting and instead engage in dialogues concerning student-related issues and concerns.

Governor Sani directed his Senior Special Assistant on Student Matters, Amina Sani Bello, to develop a comprehensive plan to address student issues and maintain strategic engagement with the student community. He reiterated that education would remain a top priority for his administration, viewing it as the best investment against poverty and insecurity.

The governor also called on elites, politicians, and businessmen to move beyond blame and take tangible actions to address the region’s challenges.
