Kano North Journalists Forum Calls for Collaboration to Drive Development in Senatorial District

By Jabiru Hassan

KANO, Nigeria – The Kano North Journalists Forum (KNJF) has called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to accelerate development across the Kano North Senatorial District. The appeal was made in a communiqué issued after the forum’s general meeting held on Monday.

According to the communiqué, the forum urged political leaders, public officeholders, and security agencies to work together to ensure peace, security, and infrastructural growth within border communities, particularly along the Katsina–Kano boundary.

The KNJF also emphasized the need for the execution of people-oriented projects that address the most pressing needs of residents, especially in rural areas. “We urge the government to prioritize projects that directly improve the living standards of the people, including rural infrastructure and essential services,” the communiqué stated.

The forum further appealed to the Kano State Government to expedite the completion of the long-delayed five-kilometre road projects in several local government areas, including Bagwai, Tsanyawa, Ghari, Shanono, Makoda, Rimingado, and Zakirai, the headquarters of Gabasawa Local Government. According to the group, the completion of these roads is vital for enhancing socio-economic development and accessibility across the region.

In its resolutions, the forum directed its members to intensify efforts in reporting stories that promote transparency, good governance, and human interest. The group also agreed to form committees and sub-committees to monitor ongoing projects in Kano North and assess the performance of political leaders across the zone.

As part of its future plans, the KNJF announced that it will begin routine inspection visits to developmental project sites across the 13 local government areas of Kano North. The initiative aims to ensure that government projects are executed satisfactorily and in the interest of the people.

The general meeting, which was chaired by the caretaker chairman of the forum, Malam Shu’aibu Sani Bagwai, was attended by members from across the senatorial district. The communiqué was jointly signed by Jabiru Hassan, Abdulmumini Abubakar Tsanyawa, and Ahmad Adamu Rimini Gado.
