Kano Police Enforce Ban on Protests Amidst Intelligence Reports

By Milcah  Tanimu

The Kano State Police Command has taken decisive measures to prohibit any protests within its jurisdiction, with the ban taking effect promptly. The decision follows the receipt of credible intelligence by the Command, revealing that a protest assembly has been planned by the New Nigeria People’s Party and the All Progressives Congress, the key political entities in the region. Notably, this protest lacks the necessary authorization from the Nigeria Labour Congress, prompting the swift action to maintain public order and safety. As tensions escalate, the police aim to avert potential unrest by enforcing this ban on protests.

With the potential for civil unrest looming, the Kano State Police Command has acted swiftly to curb the situation. The intelligence gathered pointed to the organization of a protest gathering by the New Nigeria People’s Party and the All Progressives Congress, both major political players. However, the lack of endorsement from the Nigeria Labour Congress has raised concerns about the legality and potential consequences of the protest. In response, the police have chosen to enforce a ban on all forms of protests in the state, ensuring that public safety and order are upheld. This proactive measure aims to prevent any potential clashes and disturbances, allowing the authorities to maintain control and address grievances through appropriate channels.
