Killers of Kwara Oba Planned Murder in Local Pub

Recent revelations indicate that the killers of the Olukoro of Koro in Kwara State, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, hatched their murder plot in a local pub in the town. The assailants, who invaded the palace and shot the retired senior military officer dead, are reported to have spent hours at a beer parlour in the town before executing their plan.

Allegedly, the killers lured a salesgirl from the pub to lead them to the palace, where they later attacked the monarch. The victim’s wife and two others were abducted by the assailants.

According to a family member, the abductors have demanded a ransom of N100 million for the release of the kidnapped individuals, setting a 48-hour deadline for payment.

The brother of the deceased monarch recounted the tragic incident, revealing that the assailants shot the Oba for refusing to comply with their orders. The monarch’s refusal to stand up and follow their instructions led to the fatal shooting.

The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has condemned the killing and urged security agencies to spare no resources in tracking down the perpetrators and securing the release of the kidnapped victims. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with figures like former Senate President Bukola Saraki expressing shock and calling for increased efforts to address insecurity in Kwara State.
