Kogi Assembly Suspends Okene Council Chairman

The Chairman of Okene Local Government Area, Abdulrazak Muhammed Yusuf was on Tuesday suspended from office with immediate effect for an alleged insubordination.

Kogi State House of Assembly who announced the suspension said it was sequel to a report of insubordination from the Department of State Security Services via the office of the Governor to the Assembly.

It was alleged that the suspended chairman used his position as council chairman to carry out undue arrest, intimidate and torture any one against his oziogu clan and faith.

The Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole who read the letter on Tuesday Plenary said the Council Chairman would remain suspended until the investigations are completed.

Prince Kolawole directed the Vice Chairman of the Local Government to take over the affairs of the council immediately.

He also directed the house committee on Local Government to carry-out an independent investigation and report back to the house.
