Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has implored Nigerians to desist from making Inflammatory Comments capable of causing disintegration of the country.

The Governor was reacting to the statement credited to a group known as Muslim Solidarity Forum, which called on the Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Most Rev. Matthew Kukah, to tender an unreserved apology over his Christmas day message or leave  Sokoto State.

Ortom opined that the statement by the group directing Kukah to leave Sokoto State was a clear affirmation that the country is being controlled by forces who are bent on fanning embers of disunity if their interest is not guaranteed.

The Governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase on Thursday, lamented that the statement is contrary to the provisions of the Constitution, which accords every Nigerian the right to live in any part of the nation.

He noted that the Clergy was not the first to speak out against impunity, injustice and the collapsing security in the country, stressing that the Cleric spoke the truth.

Ortom averred that Nigeria belongs to all its citizens, adding that no individual or group has the right to threaten others.

He called on Christians and Muslims to set aside religious and other sentiments to come together in humility to fast and pray for unity and peace of the nation.

The Governor lauded the Federal Government for cautioning the the group and reminding it of the provisions of the Constitution.
