Man Arrested for Stealing 23 Cows in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command apprehended a suspect on Thursday for the theft of 23 cows in Golombi village, Shongom Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Adamu Maikudi from Mai Rana village, Billiri Local Government Area, was paraded alongside two other accomplices by the state police command.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahid Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer, the suspect sold the 23 cows belonging to Anchau Maishanu, while the other two suspects involved in the crime are currently at large.

Abubakar stated, “Maishanu reported at Pero Chonge Divisional Police headquarters that three suspects, including Maikudi, conspired among themselves and stole his 23 cows from Golombi village and sold them. The case was reported and an investigation was carried out where Maikudi was arrested and all the exhibits were recovered.”

In addition to the cattle theft, other suspects involved in kidnapping, conspiracy, and possession of firearms were also paraded by Abubakar. Among them were 25-year-old Hassan Danladi, 42-year-old Seth Adamu, and 22-year-old Eli Bulus, who were arrested based on credible intelligence.

Abubakar revealed, “Danladi was found with some illegal arms in his possession which comprises dane gun, bow and arrows, charms and armlets. Upon preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to have illegally got the firearms from Adamu and Bulus, all of Kaltungo Local Government Area. The case is under investigation.”

Furthermore, 25-year-old Buba Wakili and 20-year-old Babangida Ahmadu were paraded following a formal complaint from Buba Tukur about unknown persons attempting to extort N1 million from him under threat of kidnapping. Abubakar added, “A detailed investigation was carried out and the two suspects have confessed to have conspired among themselves to carry out the dastardly act.”
