“My Husband Is Threatening My Life” – Actress Evan Okoro Cries Out

Award-winning Nollywood actress, Evan Okoro, has publicly cried out over alleged threats to her life by her husband, Prince Chibuzor Nwachimelueze, just months after their traditional wedding.

The couple tied the knot traditionally on April 13, 2025, in Okoro’s hometown. However, in a now-viral video, the actress expressed fear for her safety, revealing that she no longer wants to remain in the marriage, citing threats of violence from her husband should she attempt to leave.

“My life is more important to me. The shoe I took home is not my size. I’m living in fear. If I don’t come out to say this, I don’t know where I’ll be tomorrow. He’s threatening my life. I don’t want the marriage anymore,” she said tearfully.

Okoro disclosed that she had already filed a formal complaint at the police station, where her husband was invited for questioning. She noted that her family had also contacted him recently, as he had not paid her bride price.

She stressed that all efforts to reconcile with him had failed, and warned him to stop threatening her or her family.

According to her, Nwachimelueze entered the marriage under the false belief that she was wealthy, referencing the house she built before their union as part of the misunderstanding.

“This man married me thinking I had a lot of money. I genuinely believed it was love when he came into my life, but it’s clear now it wasn’t,” she said.

Evan Okoro further revealed that since their wedding, there has been no intimacy between them, and despite reporting the issue to his family, no steps have been taken.

The actress is now calling on the public and authorities for protection, stating that her life is at risk and that she is determined to walk away from the troubled marriage.
