The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported that its air component of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) killed numerous terrorists in Kaduna. The NAF’s deputy director of public relations, Kabiru Ali, stated that troops also destroyed a logistics base at Yadi forest in Giwa Local Government Area (LGA).
Ali explained that reconnaissance revealed a persistent terrorist presence in the area, along with arms and motorcycles. The logistics base belonged to Kadade Gurgu, a notorious terrorist who sheltered top operatives fleeing military operations in Sokoto and Zamfara.
“The air component dispatched an aircraft, supported by an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, to attack the target,” Ali said. “Initially, the target area appeared uninhabited, but as the aircraft approached, some terrorists emerged from the shrubbery and fled.”
The attack successfully hit the logistics facility, engulfing it in flames with thick black smoke rising. Independent sources, including local informants, later confirmed the total destruction of the base and the death of several terrorists.
“The NAF, alongside surface forces, will maintain dominance in the battle space through extensive situational awareness, constant patrols, and targeted operations against bandits’ safe havens in the Northwest and North Central regions. This strategy aims to eliminate terrorism and criminal activities.”
