A chairmanship aspirant for Awe Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa state under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hamza Ibrahim Moyi has pledged to make security a top priority if elected. With the rise in cases of kidnapping, banditry, and communal clashes, Moyi plans to leverage his established relationships with security agencies in the state to curb the growing insecurity in the area.
Speaking at the premises for the APC secretariat after obtaining his normination form where he officially declared his intention to run for the chairmanship position on Wednesday, Moyi said “Our people have lived in fear for too long,” Moyi stated while unveiling his plans. “I am committed to working closely with security agencies to improve safety, ensuring that residents can go about their daily lives without the threat of violence and criminal activities. Together, we will restore peace to Awe.”
Moyi also emphasized that improved security would pave the way for further development in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, and education, highlighting that a safe and secure environment is essential for growth and prosperity.
Moyi however, emphasized the need for agricultural development, noting that farming is the backbone of Awe’s economy. “Our farmers are the lifeblood of this community, but they face challenges like outdated farming techniques and lack of access to modern tools,” Moyi said. “If elected, I will prioritize providing training in modern farming methods and ensure farmers have access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and markets to maximize their productivity.”
Moyi also highlighted the lack of infrastructural development as a major issue. According to him, poor road networks and inadequate access to basic services like clean water and electricity have hindered the area’s growth.
“Our people deserve better roads and reliable infrastructure,” Moyi stated. “I will work with relevant agencies to improve roads, connect communities, and bring investments into healthcare and water supply to enhance the overall well-being of our people.”
On education, Moyi expressed concern about the underdeveloped educational facilities in the LGA. “Education is key to our future. Many of our schools need urgent attention. I will work tirelessly to upgrade our schools and ensure our children have access to quality education,” he added.
Moyi also plans to collaborate with both state and federal governments to secure funds for improving literacy and vocational training in Awe just like he has been doing as the SSA to the governor on sports.
“I have giving scholarships to about 50 students and also paid for over 500 students for jamb for the past four years since I was appointed SSA to governor Abdullahi Sule.” He said.
Moyi also vowed to boosting Awe’s recognition on the state and national levels. He believes that promoting local tourism and cultural activities could help put Awe on the map. “Awe has a rich culture that deserves to be showcased. We will organize events and festivals to highlight our cultural heritage, while also promoting youth entrepreneurship to drive economic growth,” he explained.
” My aim is to attract investment, create job opportunities, and ensure that the community thrives, my administration will be committed to the people of Awe. Together, we can make this local government a beacon of development and success,” Moyi concluded.
our Corespondent reports that with his plans laid out, Moyi’s campaign has sparked excitement among the residents, who are eager to see the changes he promises if elected as chairman.
