NATOP to partner A’Ibom to develop tourist hub

The Nigeria Association of Tourism Operators( NATOP) have expressed interest to partner with Akwa Ibom government for the development of tourism in the state .

NATOP National President Hajia Bilkisu Abdul made this known while addressing a press conference on Monday in Uyo to herald the annual general meeting of the association scheduled for Uyo later this month.

The new partnership Abdul explained would be in recognition of the investment of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the sector and would be used to further explore the rich tourism potentials of the state .

“Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Investment drive has reflected in the Tourism sector . Some of the tourism Investments are complimentary . Ibom Airline has effects on other Tourism centres in the state particularly the hospitality sector .”

” We are ready to partner the state government on this sector to explore tourism potentials of the state .” The president said.

She pointed out that other countries with more tourist attractions are not as safe and rich in culture as Nigeria but still have high patronage, charging Nigerians to show more interest in tourism tourism as the sector remained a multi billion dollar spinning enterprise.

State commmissioner for Tourism, Mr Orman Essien said hosting the 2021 AGM of NATOP would demonstrate the committment of the state government to developing tourism.

” Akwa Ibom people are hospitable and as such a partnership with NATOP will not suffer hardship, and that Akwa ibom has what it takes to become a tourist haven in Nigeria.” He said.

Chairman of Akwa Ibom state Tourism Board, Mr Ini Akpabio expressed gratitude to NATOP for partnering with Akwa Ibom to create a tourist hub within the state.

” I can see the commitment of Akwa Ibom state Governor, The people of Akwa ibom will ensure that the state and Nigeria takes its place as a huge tourist attraction in sub saharan African. ” Akpabio said.
