“…Says the region will forever remain grateful for the present administration, lauds Senate for resolving headquarters relocation agitation for united North-Central Region…”

From Abel Zwànke, Lafia

The Immediate Past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the bill establishing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

In his remarks, Balarabe Abdullahi praised the President for his leadership qualities, emphasizing that this move underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering peace, unity, and equitable development across the nation.

Speaking with newsmen in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, Balarabe Abdullahi, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic in Damaturu, Yobe State, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for his forward-thinking actions, which he said would significantly impact the North Central Region.

“First, I want to commend and appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for signing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) bill into law. This is a milestone achievement that will drive sustainable development in the North Central region,” Balarabe stated. “It is a great achievement for the entire people of the geopolitical zone, and we will forever remain grateful for President Tinubu’s efforts.”

He further explained that once operational, the commission will improve the standard of living in the region, bring about faster development, and boost socio-economic activities, ultimately benefiting the people.

“This is one of the many milestones of the present administration, and it clearly demonstrates the leadership qualities and commitment of Mr. President to ensure equitable development across the country,” he added.

The former Speaker also extended his commendation to the National Assembly, particularly Senator Abba Moro (Benue South) and Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba federal constituency), for their efforts in sponsoring the bill.

“I want to thank Sen. Abba Moro of Benue State and Hon. Jeremiah Umaru of Nasarawa State for sponsoring the bill,” Balarabe Abdullahi said. “Their efforts deserve commendation, and I pray that God blesses them accordingly.”

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule and other Governors and stakeholders in the North Central Region for their role in making the bill a reality.

“I also want to thank Gov. Abdullahi Sule, the Chairman of the North Central Governor’s Forum, for his leadership in bringing together his colleagues in unity to ensure full support for this great achievement,” Balarabe Abdullahi noted.

Additionally, the former Speaker acknowledged the Senate’s swift action in resolving the agitation regarding the NCDC headquarters relocation, particularly commending Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (Nasarawa West) for championing the resolution.

“This agitation would have greatly affected the geopolitical zone,” he stated.

Balarabe Abdullahi called for continued support and collaboration to ensure the commission’s success, urging the people of the region to unite in backing the commission’s goals.

He concluded by urging the people of the North Central Region to keep supporting and praying for President Tinubu’s administration to ensure its success.
