New EXCO Members Of The State NUJ In Sokoto Inaugurated

Speaking during the inauguration, the outgoing Chairman, Comrade Isah Shuni in his speech while thanking God for enabling him to successfully complete his six year tenure expressed gratitude for cooperation accorded him and his lieutenants saying he has performed credibly within the period.

He said they had sponsored six journalists every year to study diploma in mass communication and other journalism related courses.

Comrade Shuni also said they had championed unity among the seven chapels in the state adding that without unity nothing can be achieved.

He then thanked the state government, Sultanate Council and other organisations that supported his leadership and for the incoming executives to do more than he has done and wished all saga journey to various destinations.

National officer zone “A” Tukur Muhammad Dutsin Mari used the opportunity to congratulate the outgoing chairman for his active leadership also appreciated the full participation and for all offices to return unopposed.

He then called the incoming exco to work together as a team to ensure unity of all journalism profession, members and stakeholders adding they need strong support to succeed in their leadership with which the sky would be limit and wished them success in their leadership.

Commissioner for Information Isah Bajini Galadanci in his remarks also commended the outgoing council who displayed maturity in his leadership and advised the incoming council to do more, as the council emerged unopposed they are expected to deliver and that on behalf of the state government maximum support is expected and declared the new transition success.

The chairman credentials committee and outgoing vice chairman Musa Ubandawaki after identifying the new exco members presented them to the commissioner of finance to receive their certificate of return while members received theirs from different senior officers.

Contributing, the state Commissioner for Finance Abdul-Samad Dasuki sad he was at the ceremony only because he has been a friend of journalists long ago saying NUJ has been part and percel of the government successes “because whenever government succeed in executing its polices, journalists contributed greater percentage”. Called on those on board to do better for his to acknowledge their leadership.

Barrister Aminu Sambo while administering oaths of advised them to be honest and sincere in discharging their duties.

Barrister Sambo then submitted their return certificates to the zonal officer in charge of zone A

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in the State Comrade Bello Gwiwa ensured the team would maintain unity and congratulate the outgoing exco and similarly spoke on journalism as a profession and maintaining the tools of journalism as well as the essence of journalism as a discipline and ethical submission of the profession.

For one to be a good journalist he has to be fair in reporting no matter the channel of the profession one may have taken, avoid fake news and heresy saying journalism contribute towards the success of a nation ,society or whatever and that pen can causes war if not done properly just like a doctor forgetting his surgical knife in the patient’s body after operations.

Commissioner for Youths and Sports Bashir Usman Gorau advised all to maintain norms, ethics and whatever it takes to be a good journalist and urged all to develop project that can move the state forward.

The new chairman, Abdullahi Safiyal Magori in his acceptance speech said he is to man the chair but the leadership is for all adding that the transition of media was dated back to 1958 during the British colonial rule and gradually continue to metamorphose to what it is today.

“The modern day technology brought the world in single note that can be seen and read even in any condition or position one may be and assured quality leadership with the assistance of the seven available chapels in the state.
