Dr. Gifty Addico, the newly appointed Resident Representative of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in Nigeria, has formally presented her Letter of Credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
The announcement was made in a statement released by Hajiya Kori Habib, the Media Associate for the UNFPA, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Dr. Addico, who hails from Ghana, was most recently the Chief of the Commodity Security Branch in the Technical Division of UNFPA Headquarters in New York. In that role, she provided strategic direction and technical leadership for UNFPA’s global efforts in family planning and reproductive health supplies.
Dr. Addico is a medical doctor with extensive experience in strategic leadership in international development and health programs at both global and national levels.
She was accompanied by senior management staff from UNFPA Nigeria for the official ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As the new Resident Representative, Dr. Addico is expected to provide vision and leadership for UNFPA’s work in Nigeria.
