By Danzumi Ishaku, Jalingo.

The Nigerian Federal Fire Service is to assist the Democratic Republic of Congo in the establishment of its national fire service.

Dr Ibrahim Liman, Commandant General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) made this know on Wednesday in Jalingo when he paid a courtesy call on the Nigeria Correctional Service, Taraba Command.

Liman said that the DR Congo had already requested for the assistance inwhich the FFS was positively disposed to the request.

He said that the request became necessary due to the capacity of the organisation making it most qualified, as the second best in Africa.

He further said that the qualification was determined by the capacity of it’s fire fighting equipment and the strength of it’s personel.

He said that the organisation had acquired 44 state of the art fire fighting equipment, distributed all to all state capitals on Nigeria and other then Senatarorial districts in the country.

The number one fire fighter announced that the Federal government had also approved another N10. 4 billion for the purchase of another 44 modern fire fighting equipment.

Liman said that the manufacturers of the equipment were already at work to ensure their delivery soon.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for changing the narratives of the fire sector in Nigeria.

He recalled that Nigeria had only four equipment before Buhari emerged the president, adding that the FFS has 44 fire equipment of international standard today.

He further attributed the feat to the commitment of the president who ensured that all the budgetary allocations had being 100 per cent released to the organisation.

He assured Nigerians that the organisation was posed to save lives and property of citizens and residents in time of fire disasters.

He call on foreign investors to invest freely in Nigeria due to the capacity of the organisation to contend with any fire outbreak.

Earlier, Comptroller Emmanuel Okeke, Comptroller, Nigeria Correctional Service, Taraba Command commended the commandant general for his landmark achievement in the FFS.

Okeke assured the CG of the continue collaboration between the two agencies in the state.

He however, appealled to the Taraba government to provide land for the development of it’s command headquarters in the state.

He said that lack of a befitting office accommodation was the major challenge faced by the command in the state.

Daybreak news reports that Liman proceeded on courtesy visit to other sister agencies within the Ministry of Interior in the state.
