Nigerian Troops Capture Boko Haram Commander Abu Iklima

Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully captured Abu Iklima, a top Boko Haram commander, in a decisive operation in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.

Iklima, who commanded the Gaizuwa area, also known as Mantari, Gabchari, Kashimiri, and Maimusari, had his enclave destroyed by the troops. Counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama confirmed that hundreds of Boko Haram fighters were neutralized during the raid.

“This Abu Iklima, a top commander of Boko Haram, was commanding Gaizuwa and its surrounding areas. His enclave was severely destroyed by troops, with hundreds of fighters neutralized,” Makama reported.

The operation marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region.
