Danish-born Nigerian wonderkid, Chido Obi-Martin, has officially joined Manchester United, leaving Arsenal after a stellar youth career. Obi-Martin, a dual-national center forward, is now part of the Red Devils’ academy following a lengthy transfer ratification process.
Despite Arsenal‘s efforts to retain the starlet with scholarship and professional contract offers, Obi-Martin chose to embark on a new journey. The 16-year-old forward will sign professional terms with United in November when he turns 17, securing his future at the club.
Obi-Martin’s move to Manchester United marks a significant coup, as the club fended off competition from major European clubs like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Newcastle United. Last season, the talented striker showcased his prowess in the U18 Premier League, scoring 32 goals in 18 games—a record for Arsenal’s U18s.
The transfer solidifies United’s youth team aspirations, with Obi-Martin expected to make a substantial impact in the coming seasons.
