By Jabiru Hassan, Kano

The proposal for directorship appointments at the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), jointly forwarded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibrin, was based on merit and eligibility.

This was disclosed by Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi, a former permanent secretary in the Kano State Government, while reacting to the proposed appointments of individuals selected to serve as directors at the commission.

He emphasized that the appointments align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to ensure that competent individuals lead key institutions without bias.

“I am confident that the appointment of Asiya Abdullahi Umar as Director of Community and Rural Development at the NWDC is a commendable effort by the Speaker of the House and the Deputy Senate President,” he stated.

Malam Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi expressed confidence in Asiya Abdullahi Umar’s ability to serve effectively, citing her excellent background and strong track record. He noted that the NWDC would play a crucial role in fostering progress across the North-West region.

“Congratulations on your well-deserved appointment as the Executive Director of Rural and Community Development at the North-West Development Commission. Your appointment is a tremendous achievement and a testament to your hard work, dedication, and passion for community development,” he emphasized.

He further highlighted Asiya Abdullahi Umar’s professional accomplishments as an accountant and staff member of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

“We are certain that you will bring your wealth of experience to your new role. Your commitment to grassroots politics and philanthropy, particularly through your family’s foundation, is truly inspiring,” he added.

Malam Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi concluded by wishing her success in her new role.

“I wish you all the best as you embark on this exciting new chapter. May you continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those in your community and beyond. Congratulations once again,” he said.
