Nwabali and Sadiq Set to Join Super Eagles in Abidjan for AFCON Qualifier

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and Real Sociedad striker Sadiq Umar are set to arrive in Abidjan ahead of the Super Eagles’ first training session as they prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin on Thursday, November 14. With a current lead in Group D, Nigeria needs only a draw at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny to secure their place in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Interim head coach Austin Eguavoen has called up a 23-man squad featuring players from top leagues. Key players including Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, and Raphael Onyedika began arriving in camp on Monday. By Tuesday, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi had also joined, bringing the camp’s total to 21 players.

Both Nwabali and Sadiq are expected to join the team before the scheduled 7pm training session on Tuesday. Eguavoen aims for a complete squad to ensure smooth preparations for this critical matchup.
