The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has called on young Nigerians to actively safeguard the country’s democracy, describing the nation as being at a critical stage.
Speaking at a seminar themed “Birthing a New Nigeria” in Bauchi State, NYA President Aliyu Bin Abbas urged youths to demonstrate unity, discipline, and commitment to national development. The event also featured the inauguration of 112 Local Government Coordinators for the North-East zone.
Abbas emphasised the role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future, calling for increased participation in governance and leadership. He said the responsibility of strengthening democratic institutions rests significantly on the younger generation. Guest speaker Adamu Ibrahim Gumba commended the initiative, encouraging youths to engage constructively in the political process to drive sustainable change.
Also speaking, Bauchi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, highlighted the importance of unity and shared vision among youths in advancing national progress.Organisers said the programme is part of ongoing efforts to mobilise and empower young Nigerians to contribute to a more inclusive and democratic society.
