By Richard Ayinde, Osogbo.

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Osun State Wing, Comrade (Alhaji) Adekomi Kabir Adekunle, has charged the newly elected 2021-2025 branch trustees into the State Wing Executive Council (SWEC) to see the mandate given to them in representing teachers in their respective local government area of the state as a call to service while they should strive hard to deliver on their mandate.

The Chairman made this charge on Monday during the official inauguration and induction of the affected union leaders held at the State Teacher’s house, Estate Osogbo the state capital.

According to the Osun NUT Chairman, ” you must see the mandate given to you all to represent teachers in your various local government area of the state as a call to service while the task ahead are enormous”.

Comrade Adekunle who enjoined the newly elected union leaders to always involved their members in their day to day’s activities towards the development of teachers as a whole charged them to be magnanimous in victory while they should embrace their colleagues who couldn’t made it in the election, saying, “No victor, no vanquish”.

Comrade Adekunle who appreciated God for witnessing the day said it was exactly five months after his emergence as the state Chairman of the union that the union conducted the Delegates’ Conference and Election into twenty nine (29) local government area branches across the state and produced new executives for all the branches with exception of Iwo and Boluwaduro local government areas in which their own conferences shall be held at a period of time.

The Osun NUT boss said that, the 2021 branch election was outstanding and commendable due to the branch executives that were returned un-opposed in twenty (20) out of twenty nine (29) local government branches where the conference took place.

Comrade Adekunle however used the medium to commends the union elders and leaders in the affected twenty (20) local government saying their contribution and support to the union cannot be over emphasised while appreciating the secretariat staff of the union led by the state secretary, Comrade Salami B. Olukayode for their unflinching support to him since he assumed the office.

In his brief orientation to the newly elected leaders of the union, a Chieftain of the union, Comrade Wale Oyeniyi enjoined them to always work for the progress of the union while they should not be distracted from the union’s constitution.

” Am urging you to always abide with our constitution as your guide for you to make success in your various offices and you should not work against the constitution as well.

“Please and please, work in unity with the state leadership, consolidate on the achievements of the union past leaders as we are all aware that the NUT is the best organised union in Africa today”.

Certificates were later presented to the newly elected officers.
