Oyo Gov’t Installs Seven Traditional Rulers

The Oyo State Government on Thursday installed and presented Instrument of Office to Seven traditional rulers in Ogbomoso axis of the State.

The newly installed Traditional Rulers include; the Olodanbon of Odanbon – Prince Adeyemi Joel Olusola, Baale Yaku – Chief Ojewumi Sunday Oyeniyi, Aare Alasa – High Chief Joseph Oyelola Oyedele, Abese of Ogbomoso – High Chief Kasali Oladapo Yusuf.

Others are Onibosunla of Bosunla – Oba Mustapha Bello Oyedemi, Amura of Ladokun – Oba Olakunle Samuel Oladejo Alagbe and Balogun of Ikoyi – Ile – Chief Adesina Sunday Victor.

Presenting the instrument of Office to the traditional leaders, Governor Seyi Makinde urged the new traditional rulers to be in togetherness with the people, to achieve a common goal in Ogbomosoland.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, was saddled with the responsibility, by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde to present staff of office to the newly installed Baale and Chiefs in Ogbomosoland.

The Commissioner stressed the importance of unity, tolerance and dedication in their leadership roles.

“I want to make it known that, this administration accords traditional institution a place of pride in the scheme of things. Our traditional rulers are held in high esteem, their welfare and well-being are being accorded priority. As the government is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and properties, the citizens too must be law abiding and also channel whatever grievances that may arise through the legally acceptable means”, he said.

He added, “I therefore, congratulate the people of Ogbomosoland for the appointment of the new traditional rulers”.

“It is my hope that the time will not be too distant when succession to royal stool(s) in this state would be relatively crisis-free; promoting unity. I now have the greatest pleasure to present the instrument of office which is the symbol of Authority to the traditional rulers.

In their separate addresses, the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi, Ogbomoso North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Akanji Kabir Ayoade, and Oriire Local Government Chairman, Hon. Alabi Olateju Michael appreciated His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde the Governor of Oyo State for the approval of the installation of traditional rulers in their local government.

The trio made it known that, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde attaches much preference to issues pertaining to the traditional council in the scheme of things under government policies and does not handle traditional matters with levity.

According to them, “the recipients of instruments of office, to reciprocate the gesture of His Excellency by positively contributing to the peace and development of Ogbomosoland and Oyo State in general”.

According to them, “It is pertinent to be at peace with other surrounding communities in order to achieve success in the area of security and better development.”
