Paris is on schedule and within budget for the 2024 Olympics, according to the city’s mayor. Anne Hidalgo dismissed recent concerns raised by a senior Olympics official, emphasizing that they are fully prepared for the event. In an interview with France Inter radio station, Hidalgo highlighted that the city is following the pattern of previous successful Olympic and Paralympic Games.”We are on track with both our budget and timeline,” stated the mayor of Paris regarding the 2024 Olympics. The comments came after Pierre-Olivier Beckers, an International Olympic Committee official responsible for monitoring the Paris Games, expressed concerns about the financial aspects of the event. Last December, French authorities allocated an additional 111 million euros to accommodate inflation, bringing the total budget to 4.48 billion euros.Concerns have been raised about the financial aspects of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, including delays in securing major sponsorship deals and uncertainties surrounding domestic partnerships, according to reports. Major sponsorship deals, including one with French luxury goods giant LVMH, have not yet been finalized, raising questions about the event’s finances. The French national auditor’s provisional report, disclosed by Le Monde newspaper, highlighted “substantial uncertainties” that remain, particularly regarding domestic partnerships. Additionally, the high cost of tickets for Olympic events has sparked criticism amid the cost-of-living crisis in France. Despite progress, work still needs to be done to address these challenges, as acknowledged by officials involved in the organization of the Games.
