Pastor Declares January Salary as First Fruit for Himself, Sparks Controversy

Pastor John Anosike, the President and Senior Pastor of New World Faith Ministries, stirred controversy by proclaiming to his congregation that their January salary, considered their first fruit, is meant for him alone and not for the church.

Addressing his members during a sermon, Pastor Anosike boldly stated that he fears no criticism and challenges his followers to honor him with their first salary of the year. He emphasized that if they consider him their spiritual father, this financial gesture would bring blessings upon them. The pastor even offered to refund the money if his members don’t witness blessings before the middle of the year.

He declared, “Your first-month salary is your first fruit of the year. It is for me and not for the church. I fear nobody and I fear no criticisms. If you call me your spiritual father, this first month’s salary, which is your first fruit of the year, is for me and not for the church. It is for the altar, vessel, which is me. It is for my welfare. If you honor me with the first fruit of your first year, in the middle of this year, if you don’t testify, come back I will give it back to you. You will see wonders.”

The pastor’s statement stirred a strong reaction online, with various individuals expressing their opinions. While some criticized the pastor for his directive, others defended his transparency, stating that at least he was honest about his intentions.

Actress Victoria Inyama and others shared their disapproval, while some suggested alternative ways to contribute to the less privileged rather than giving to the pastor.

This incident comes amid ongoing discussions about religious practices and financial contributions, with controversies often arising over how funds collected from congregants are utilized.
