The core support network of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, an umbrella of all PDP NGOs with the mandate to mobilise, grassroots support for the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has come up with a programme to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Party.
The occasion according to its national coordinator and national secretary, Alhaji Kabir Attajiri and Hon. Dare Balogun who made a statement available to newsmen in Abuja, is to among others things celebrate the PDP, recognise those who have contributed to the growth of the party and also to educate the electorate on the need to vote for its presidential candidate in the 2019 election.
“the APC led federal government has demonised PDP as a corrupt party. We want to use this programme to counter that hence the plan to launch a publication on PDP success stories. Through this programme, we will let Nigerians know that no government has fought corruption as much as PDP has done. It is on record that PDP led federal government removed from office and prosecuted a former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun; a former Minister of Interior, Chief Sunday Afolabi; two serving senate presidents, the Chuba Okadigbo and Aldolfus Wabara and several others”.
The statement also noted that to the credit of the PDP the Economic Crimes Commission EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, were all creations of the PDP led government.
The statement wondered why the APC should continue to label the PDP as corrupt when from all indication the party has not been able to put a single institutional framework in place to fight corruption which has become the hallmark of the APC government.
The event which is put together by the PDP Core Supporters Network, PCSN, is expected to commence later this month and has the former president, Goodluck Jonathan as a special guest of honour while the Senate President Bukola Saraki is to serve as chairman of the occasion.
