Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State are demanding clarity from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. This comes amid rumors about his possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The group, called Concerned Leaders of PDP, expressed concerns about the governor’s reported meetings with key APC figures. These include Femi Gbajabiamila and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which have sparked speculation that Oborevwori is seeking political leverage for a second term.
In an open letter, the PDP leaders accused Oborevwori of engaging with influential APC members and sponsoring divisions within the party. They also criticized his public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s policies. They quoted him saying, “If President Tinubu fails, I also fail,” which they saw as a betrayal.
The letter also pointed out Oborevwori’s governance style. The leaders claimed that he has sidelined critical party members. They described his “family affairs” approach as excluding key voices. The PDP leaders demanded an immediate response from the governor. They warned that continued silence could indicate an intention to join the APC.
The Concerned Leaders urged Oborevwori to clarify his position. They stressed that failure to do so could harm the PDP’s future in Delta State. They also emphasized the need for transparency to protect the party’s interests.
