The Director of Dekina Local Government, Mr Johnson Adegbe Umoru on Friday charged people living with disabilities ( PLWD) not to relent in contributing to societal development despite their peculiar condition.
Mr Adegbe-Umoru made the call while receiving ‘Dekina People living with disabilitiesdis’ group resident in Lokoja.
He said everyone was special to God hence they must not see their disability as a set back but be encouraged in all their endeavours.
The Director of Local Government promised to give the group all the necessary support that could enhance their living standard in view of their special condition and thanked them for their solidarity.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr Solomon Yahaya said the visit was to congratulate him on his appointment as DLG and seek necessary assistance.
Mr Yahaya who is also the state Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities advised the DLG to make an impact during his time.
In a remark, the state chairman of persons living with disabilities, Mr Daniel Arome said he was impressed by the humble disposition of Mr Adegbe-Umoru stressing that the government and people of Dekina will not regret his choice of the appointment.
Mr Arome thanked Mr Adegbe-Umoru for recognizing the disabled and prayed for God’s devine wisdom as he pilots the affairs of Dekina Local Government to enviable position.
Highlight of the visit was a special prayer for the DLG and his family, Dekina Local Government and the peace and tranquility of Kogi state.
