By Daniel Edu

Following the alleged financial impropriety against the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, announced plans to mandate support groups to account for donations received during his campaign. In a statement released on his official X account, Obi stated that an audit of funds received during the 2023 general election campaign had commenced. He emphasized transparency and accountability, assuring donors that their contributions were properly used for the intended purpose. Obi also commended the supporters for their dedication and commitment to the democratic process, acknowledging their role in shaping the future of Nigeria. The move aims to show the visible success achieved through judicious management of resources despite budget constraints. Obi expressed confidence that the dream of a new Nigeria remains alive and achievable.
