Plateau commissioner Hon Ephrain commissions classroom blocks named after his mum, Gov Mutfwang’s mother

Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Chief Ephraim Usman yesterday
commissioned the very first blocks of two standard size classrooms in Ga’ar Shye and Ga’ar Nangai communities of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Speaking at the occasion Hon Usman emphasized the need for quality education to secure a brighter future for the next generation and combat crime.

He stated that although the projects are his personal contribution to improve education in Kanam, it falls line with the mission and vision of the Mutfuwang led administration.

He also requested for support from SUBEB’s chairman to provide furniture and learning materials for the schools, which was granted.

Expressing his gratitude to the commissioner on behalf of the two schools, the headteacher of Ga’ar Shei LEA, Mr. Yusuf Habib Aliyu stated that the newly constructed classrooms were an answered prayer that would not only greatly improve the learning environment but also serve as a landmark and community meeting place.

The ceremony was attended by key individuals, including representatives of the Manasseh Mutfwang family; the Village Heads of Ga’ar and Kwanin districts; the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman, Mr. Amuna Sunday; and the TIC Chairmen of Kanam, Shendam, Pankshin and Wase LGAs – Hon. Ado Yusuf Danboyi, Hon. Kemi Nshe, Hon. Samuel Goar and Hon. Hamisu Anani, respectively. Respected party stalwarts and supporters including the PDP women and youth leaders of Kanam LGA were also in attendance.

The Ga’ar Shye classroom block is named Kaka Briskilla Manasseh Mutfuwang, in memory of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfuwang’s late mother, while the Ga’ar Nangai classroom block is named after Mama Santali Naomi Usman, in honor of Chief Ephraim Usman’s late mother.

The newly constructed buildings were handed over to the Plateau State Ministry of Education under the supervision of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), who in turn handed over the structures to the communities through their leaders, besieging them to take great care of the classroom blocks.
