“Seeks prayers for a united Plateau

Plateau State Governor-Elect, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang on Monday said the peaceful and successful conduct of the 2023 General elections was as a result of fervent prayers offered by religious bodies.

Barr. Caleb Mutfwang stated this in Jos at the Award and 2023 support dinner organized by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Plateau State Chapter.

Plateau State Governor-Elect and made available to newsmen in Jos .

The Governor elect who was represented by the Deputy Governor-Elect, Hon. Josiphine Piyo noted that prayers offered by the church helped to thwart plans by some elements to derail the electoral process.

He tasked the Church to sustain the prayers for the incoming administration to peacefully take over the reins of power and commence governance on the right footing.

He noted with satisfaction the immense contribution of the Church towards ensuring a progressive and united Plateau where citizens will flourish in prosperity.

In his words ” I appreciate the PFN Nigeria, Plateau State chapter for the good work you have been doing towards promoting peaceful co-existence among citizens. I appreciate you also for your prayers before, during and after the 2023 General Elections and I appeal to you to sustain this prayers for the incoming administration to succeed.”

Hon. Piyo who was accompanied by former Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Peter Vwang Dung, expressed the determination of the Governor elect to run an all inclusive government where all shades of opinions and interests, will be considered and given a sense of belonging.

The PFN Chairman, Plateau State Rev. Dr. Steven Dangana said the occasion was to show appreciation and recognize high profile dignitaries who had contributed to service to God and humanity.

“The word of the Lord encourages us to give honour to whom honour is due but even moreso, double honour to the deserving. It is in response to this that we have gathered here to joyfully acknowledge and recognize very distinguished individuals who have over the years made every significant contribution that have greatly impacted the church and society.”

Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence and Senator representing Plateau North, Sen. Istifanus Gyang who represented the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty, Da. Jacob Gyang Buba who was honoured with a meritorious Award for immense contribution to the church and service to human, expressed delight over the recognition.

He expressed gratitude to God and to the leadership of PFN in Plateau State for the prayers and support to the traditional institutions and called for fervent prayers for God’s intervention on the renewed activities of evil people in the state

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, who was represented by the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nuhu Ayuba Abok was also honoured with an Award for his selfless services. He pledged to continue to support the church in building a formidable society where peace and Justice will reign.

Member representing Riyom Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Dantong, represented member representing Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Senator-Elect for Plateau North, Hon. Simon Mwadkwon.

He expressed joy that the Church has exhibited love, selflessness and is leading in the forefront for enduring peace and unity in the state.

Other Awardees included, Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, President and CEO Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation; Pastor Dr. W. F. Kumuyi; Rev. Dr. Tor Ujah, President Mission House;
HRM. Prof. James O. Iorzua, the Tor Tiv and President Benue Traditional Council, Hon. Beni Lar, Member House of Representatives, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, former Executive Secretary TETFUND, Dr. Douye Diri, Governor, Bayelsa State among others.
