PMAN unity concert, for youth talents discovery, empowerment- Chiboy

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), FCT chapter, says its monthly Stakeholders Forum/Unity Concert and Lecture will promote youths talent discovery and empowerment.

Chioelo Ojirika, popularly known as “Chiboy D” Black, Chairman,    Stakeholders Forum/Unity Concert and Lecture, made this known in an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ojirika said: “The unity concert and lecture is packaged to be a monthly event geared toward sustainable national development through youths talent discovery and empowerment.

“We do this by collaborating with relevant non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on advocacy programmes that are focussed at the national renewal and rebirth.

“These are being achieved through lectures, seminars, youths engagement in skills acquisition in music, film and sports, taking advantage of the teeming youthful population of Nigeria,’’ he said.

Ojirika recalled that the maiden event of the concert recorded enormous feat as it had further united the Abuja based artistes and gave PMAN FCT the desired corporate image.

“Our maiden unity concert had the Federal Government’s endorsement, through the participation of Mrs Nonye Ojekwe, the Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, in the Office of the Vice President.

“Ojekwe emphasised the powerful tool of music as a social mobiliser toward peaceful co-existence and tolerance,’’ he said.

Ojirika said the PMAN’s initiative premised on the fact that many people love music and movies.

“This is why the association decided to use unity concert to promote peace and unity in the country.

“It is also aimed at contributing to curbing the increasing rate of insecurity in the country, using our voices and faces.

“The overall objective of the PMAN FCT Stakeholders’ Forum is aimed at bringing stakeholders in the entertainment industry in Abuja together to get the industry back on track,” the committee chairman said.

The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria is an organisation founded by Christy Essien-Igbokwe and Sunny Okosun in 1984 to guide, protect and promote the interests of musicians in the West African nation of Nigeria.
