Police Apprehend Suspected Member of Gang Linked to Beheading of Rivers DPO

By Daniel Edu

The Rivers State Police command has successfully apprehended a member of the Iceland Cult gang believed to be involved in the gruesome murder of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Bako Angbashim in Ahoada Division, Rivers State. The gang is allegedly headed by Gift David Okpara Okpolowu, also known as “2-Baba.”

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, had previously declared Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (2-Baba) and all members of his criminal gang as wanted individuals in connection with the murder of DPO Angbashim.

The tragic incident occurred in the Odumude community of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, where the DPO was brutally killed by suspected cultists.

A video circulating on social media captured one of the Iceland cult members confessing to the crime. In his confession, he provided details of how the deceased DPO was murdered and revealed the location where the body was buried. Additionally, he disclosed that the gang’s leader, Gift Opara Okpolowu (aka 2-Baba), possesses over 40 firearms that are used in conflicts with rival cults and opposition groups.

Several weeks ago, the Rivers State Government had offered a N100 million reward for information leading to the capture of the gang leader and his associates.
