Police Inspector Arrested for Fatally Shooting Man in Zamfara

In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, Inspector Nura Ahmad, attached to CTU Base 18 Zamfara State, has been arrested and detained for discreet investigation following the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Ahmad Ibrahim along the Zamare/Yauri road.

The incident occurred when Inspector Nura Ahmad was on stop and search duty. Ahmad Ibrahim, a resident of Yauri town, was confronted by the police officer, resulting in a fatal gunshot wound to his chest. Despite being rushed to General Hospital Yauri for treatment, a medical doctor confirmed his untimely death.

The Kebbi State Police Command has condemned the unprofessional conduct of Inspector Nura Ahmad and has assured the public that justice will be served for the victim. The police officer is currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the officer’s actions.

The Command has extended its condolences to the family, friends, and well-wishers of late Ahmad Ibrahim, praying for his soul to rest in peace and offering support to his grieving family.

SP NAFIU ABUBAKAR, the Police Public Relations Officer, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, assured the public that the investigation into this tragic incident will be thorough and transparent, with the outcome made available in due course.

He urged the public to remain calm as the authorities work to bring closure to the unfortunate event and ensure that justice is served.
