Advance Dreams Football Academy of Yenagoa punched their ticket to the Prosperity Cup 2025 final, edging out Bayelsa United Feeders 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout after a goalless draw at Samson Siasia Stadium on Saturday.
They will face former champions Eternal Grace Ministry (EGM) FC in the highly anticipated championship match.
The semi-final clash saw both teams struggle to find a creative spark, with the second half particularly devoid of clear chances.
Despite valiant efforts from Bayelsa United Feeders’ Godbless Ayeke and Tonyemiete Owugah, Advance Dreams FA’s resolute defense held firm.
The match ultimately hinged on the penalty shootout, where Advance Dreams’ star midfielder Godstime Nupe delivered the decisive blow, sending Bayelsa United Feeders to their second straight semi-final exit.
In the earlier semi-final, EGM FC also advanced via a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Crusaders FC after another scoreless draw. Both defeated teams will now contest the losers’ final.
Advance Dreams FA coach Kenneth Opukeme praised his squad’s discipline, noting, “The players followed every instruction to the letter.”
He also lauded tournament organizers and Governor Senator Douye Diri for their commitment to the competition. Captain Pere Ebiware expressed his excitement, marking the team’s historic first appearance in the Prosperity Cup final.
