“RAVI” – Morravey’s Bold Musical Debut

Must read

By Milcah Tanimu

When Davido announced the relaunch of his record label, he did so with immense enthusiasm and excitement, revealing that he had been carefully developing two flagship artists to lead the label’s rebrand. Morravey, one-half of DMW 2.0 flagship artists, made her presence felt with a memorable chorus on ‘In The Garden’ from Davido’s record-breaking fourth album, ‘Timeless.’ Her vocals immediately showcased her exceptional talent, generating anticipation for her future offerings.

In her debut project, Morravey not only demonstrates her impressive vocal dexterity but also her versatility and potential to achieve great success.

The opening track, ‘What Is Love,’ highlights her soulful singing and vocal flexibility, setting the stage for what’s to come. Morravey aims to prove that she can do more than just R&B by crafting enjoyable records like ‘High Again,’ which features log drum-driven Afropop elements. At just 20 years old, Morravey fearlessly explores themes of sex, psychedelics, and the good life, showcasing an edgy side that complements her sweet lover girl persona. Her sampling of Mzbel’s ’16 years’ adds artistic depth, and her use of Port Harcourt colloquialisms reflects her city’s influence on her music.

The Highlife track ‘My Baby’ demonstrates her daring attempt to explore different musical styles, and ‘Magician’ is a party-starting Amapiano record where she showcases her ability to deliver catchy lamba and melody, with or without Davido’s involvement. Across five tracks, Morravey displays her vocal prowess, songwriting skills, and impressive range.

“RAVI” is a bold declaration of Morravey’s intent to make her mark in the mainstream music scene.
