Renowned Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has responded to Yul Edochie’s recent statement disavowing his marital ties to Judy Austin, his second wife.
It came to light that Yul Edochie, in response to legal proceedings initiated by his estranged wife, May Edochie, contended that his relationship with Judy Austin was solely centered around skit creation and denied any official marital union.
Yul asserted in court that there was no legally recognized marriage between him and Judy Austin, emphasizing the nature of their connection as collaborative skit makers.
May Edochie’s legal representation, led by Emeka Ugwuonye of Due Process Advocates, reported an unexpected delay in the FCT High Court hearing scheduled for March 5. Yul and Judy claimed responsibility for the disruption, alleging that media outlets, particularly Gistlover, exploited their personal and professional lives for financial gain.
Ugwuonye cited Yul’s petition, stating, “Since the news of the birth of Star in June 2021, Gistlover, as a negative blog that thrives in fake and manipulated information for financial gains, has been negatively exploiting every movie or skit featuring me and Judy and generating social media traffic for financial gains.”
In response to the alleged traditional marriage ceremony between Yul and Judy on April 24, 2022, in Anambra State, Yul dismissed the claim, attributing it to misinformation propagated by a blog for financial motives.
Taking to Instagram to share her astonishment, Rita Edochie questioned the notion of Judy Austin becoming a skit maker through marriage, reflecting on her own journey from humble beginnings to her current status. She wrote, “Firstly, I was picked from the streets, and today I am a skit maker by marriage? Chai! God, what have I done to myself.”
