The family members of the late actor, Obinna Nwafor, renowned as Saint Obi, have expressed their heartfelt sentiments about his absence from their lives. They shared their thoughts during his burial ceremony in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Imo State.
In video footage shared by Azuh Arinze, the publisher of Yes! Magazine, the late actor’s first son, Chidera, conveyed that his father’s demise had prompted him to mature into a responsible man. Acknowledging his father as an “incredible actor who brought joy to people’s faces,” Chidera remarked, “Thank you for imparting life’s wisdom to me. I believe you’re watching over me. Circumstances have compelled me to embrace leadership. I’ll take the lead, Dad. I’m committed to safeguarding my mother and siblings, especially shielding them from intrusive media, just as you did in your time. My love for you will endure until we reunite.”
In her own reflections, Saint Obi’s wife, Linda, shared, “I am certain that our meeting (between her and Saint Obi) was divinely orchestrated. You had a remarkable domestic presence. Your absence weighs heavily on me. I’m still grappling with my emotions. This reality is difficult to accept. It shouldn’t have happened. Embracing the fact that you are no longer with us, that my children will grow up without a father, and I won’t feel your robust embrace again, is an immense sorrow. My children and I offer prayers for you daily. Your departure has left us crestfallen. The pain within is irreplaceable. I have always loved you, and I always will.”
Nnemdi, Saint Obi’s sole daughter, expressed her sentiments, saying, “Dad, I want you to know that I cherish you deeply and miss you greatly. You’ll forever reside in my heart, and I’ll forever treasure the joyful moments we shared. I wish you had more time with us. Your absence won’t allow you to witness my growth and accomplishments. Please, watch over us – my mother, my brothers, and me – from your heavenly abode. I hold you in love.”
Nancy Jawfu, the late actor’s sister, who reportedly held him in her arms during his passing in Jos, Plateau State, shared, “Saint Obi had a yearning to serve God once more. He urged us, his siblings, to embrace harmony. He extended forgiveness to those who wronged him.”
