Sanusi Urges Nigerians: Don’t Succumb to Intimidation by Politicians

By Daniel Edu

After observing the current state of affairs in the country, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano, has voiced his concern about the tendency of Nigerians to tolerate disrespect and mistreatment from politicians. In a widely circulated video, he called on fellow Nigerians not to allow themselves to be intimidated by presidents, governors, or any political leaders.

Sanusi emphasized the importance of holding politicians accountable and not shying away from questioning their actions. He expressed worry that if citizens do not demand accountability from politicians, future generations may be left without a country to call their own.

As a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi stressed that not being involved in politics does not make individuals inferior or subordinate. He encouraged Nigerians to overcome their fear and reluctance to speak out against injustices and abuses of power.

“We take too much rubbish, and we are all too afraid in our comfort zones,” Sanusi said. He called on the younger generation to be active in shaping the future of the nation and not to succumb to intimidation. He emphasized that the responsibility to hold politicians accountable is vital for ensuring a better future for Nigeria.

Sanusi concluded by urging the youth to take ownership of their country and play an active role in its development. He underlined that the only way to secure a brighter future for the nation is by actively participating in shaping its destiny.
