The Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday alleged an assassination plan by governor Bello to eliminate the Director- General of the Muritala Yakubu Ajaka’s Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation, Sheik Ibrahim Jibril and the Youth Leader, Alhaji Ahmed Attah.

Muri/Sam Campaign said they have also been detailed to burn down the palatial mansion of Sheikh Jibril and torch the family house of Alh Attah.
According to the release, the ad-hoc attack team led by a wanted fugitive Friday Makama Sani expected to invade Anyigba today includes some collaborators from the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigerian Police and the Anti- Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command.
It was further alleged that Governor Bello told thugs and some policemen from the Mobile Police Unit today in Lokoja headed by one Supol Ojo that they will await the arrival of the head of Anti Kidnapping Unit in the FCT before moving to Anyigba to attack Sheik Ibrahim Jibril, and Alhaji Ahmed Attah.
According to the statement, Bello allegedly explained to the rogue force that it has been arranged for the Oc Anti-Kidnapping to formally report at the Kogi State Command that they are on the trail of Jibril and Attah for kidnapping.
“The Kogi Commissioner Bethrand Unuoha and the OC Mopol who have been earlier implicated in renting out police officers to thugs will use the report to justify their mission to kill the two top campaign officials who they will accuse of resisting arrest.” the statement added.
It was further alleged that”A list of 20 other supporters of SDP has been compiled by Bello and handed over to his rogue team to hunt down before the elections.

“The Muritala Yakubu Ajaka Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation will like to caution that the constant procurement of policemen to attack and kill our supporters is an invitation to anarchy.”
“We have repeatedly cried out against Bello’s antic of pooling legitimate police officers and Navy personnel and Officers to join thugs in carrying out political attacks on opponents.”
It was alleged that “On June 23, 2023 a similar rogue force was dispatched to Ejule to kill a supporter of our party Alhaji Kabir Bala, Alias Okwo a former ally of Yahaya Bello who rejected violence and declared support for the SDP.”
“We are calling of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to rein in this outlaw of a governor before he fatally undermines our democracy through his desperate brigand age.”
The statement said”Our country’s fledging democracy is too important to be sacrificed for a thoroughly discredited governor and husband of a woman wanted by EFCC for looting Kogi State treasury-who in his desperation to cover his criminal tracks is bent on killing as many citizens as possible to impose his cousin.”
In a quick reaction to the allegation,
Spokesman/Director of Media and Publicity, Kogi State APC Campaign Council, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo said
“Our attention has been drawn to a spurious allegation by the discredited merchant of falsehood in Kogi politics, the Social Democratic Party, to the effect that Governor Yahaya Bello is planning to arrest SDP leaders over frame-up charges of terrorism. This is another tempo of falsehood from the bottle-size over ambitious group.”
“Terrorism is a very serious national issue that shouldn’t be ordinarily trivialised by any group, no matter how confused. But the SDP would stop at nothing to push their noses in front as serious contenders when they know they stand no chance whatsoever in the forthcoming Governorship Election.”
“We wish to dismiss the allegation as another attention-seeking, unimaginably concocted lie aimed at creating panic and preemptively covering their satanic plans against the Kogi voters. The SDP and its desperate candidate must also raise dust to keep their access to the pockets of their sponsors alive. We are miles ahead of the known and hideous conspirators.”
“If there are plans to terrorise the Kogi people, security agencies will ensure it is scuttled and we are confident that November 11 will make history as the best election day in the history of our dear Confluence State.”
” We call on security agencies to as a matter of necessity, urgency and professionalism, invite those behind the reckless and defenceless allegation to provide proofs. Issues like these are capable of spreading fear if not curtailed immediately. As a Campaign Council, we will continue to preach peace and togetherness as well as abide by the provisions of our laws.” the statement added.
