Senator Dachungyang Pledges Quality Legislation for Plateau North Constituents

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Senator Mwadkon Dachungyang of Plateau North has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering impactful legislation and life-changing interventions for his senatorial district.

The senator made this pledge during a homecoming meeting with his immediate community in Riyom. The gathering included key stakeholders such as the Gwom Rwey Riyom, Da Samuel Jok, clergy, youth representatives, women’s groups, elders, and representatives of the twelve clans of Riyom Town.

In a statement signed by Eric Dung, Senator Dachungyang’s Senior Assistant on Media, the senator described the meeting as the launch of his Thank-You Tour. The tour will cover all six local government areas in the district, aiming to express gratitude to constituents for entrusting him with their mandate.

Despite the challenges of contesting two court cases during his first eight months in office, the senator highlighted some achievements, including the distribution of fertilizers and various empowerment initiatives.

Addressing concerns about constituency projects in the 2024 budget, Senator Dachungyang clarified that the budget was passed before his election. He assured constituents, however, that he would be fully accountable for the 2025 budget, promising to advocate for tangible projects that would directly benefit the people.

Traditional and community leaders, including the Gwom Rwey Riyom Da Samuel Jok, Riyom Development Association Chairman Iliya Bot Fondong, Elders Forum Chairman Da Chomo Audu Zang, and Riyom Youth Organization President Dalyop Ezekiel, pledged their support for the senator’s tenure. They expressed hope that his leadership would ensure quality representation for Plateau North.
