Service Chiefs Visit Borno, Pays Courtesy Call On Governor Babagana Umara Zulum

The newly appointed Service Chiefs were in Maiduguri the Borno state capital, Sunday, on an operational visit to OPERATION LAFIYA Dole, the epicenter of the theatre of Boko Haram insurgency.

Government House MAIDUGURI was their first port of call, where they had audience with Governor Babagana Umara Zulum,and assured him of routing out the  Bokoharam insurgency in the state and the Northeast region at large.

Leader of delegation, Major General Leo Irabor, told the GOVERNOR that, military Operations will receive a boost to enable the security operatives defeat completely the lingering Bokoharam INSURGENCY.

He solicited for the understanding of the  civilian populace and to co-operate with the military in the fight against bokoharam terrorists.

BORNO state GOVERNOR BABAGANA UMARA ZULUM, while addressing the service chiefs, he called for aggressive collaboration with the armed forces of Chad, Niger and Cameroon and sought for enhanced ties between military and civilian populace to bridge the trust deficit and increase military access to credible intelligence which is key to the success over bokoharam INSURGENCY.

He assured the  military top brass of his commitment and support by way of supplementing their efforts in the on going war against Bokoharam terrorists.

He urged them to tolerate  fair and constructive criticism in good faith to enhance productivity.

“In democratic  setting, the military is an establishment which is subject to constructive criticism by well meaning citizens” ZULUM said.

He noted that, for the Nigerian military to achieve success, there should be robust co-ordination and collaboration between different security operatives, particularly between the Nigerian Army and the Airforce.

The Governor also called on the military to ensure continued and sustained operations to deny insurgents breathing space by blocking all routes to avoid terrorist moving from one region to another.


The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Leo Irabor was accompanied on the courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awal Zubairu Gambo and the chief of the Air Staff Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao.
