Shehu Sani Slams El-Rufai: “You Were Silent When Buhari Practiced Nepotism”

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna
In what could be described as Cat and Dog relationship, Shehu Sani has criticized Mal. Nasir el-Rufai for complaining about President Tinubu’s appointments, accusing him of hypocrisy over his silent when Buhari was practicing nepotism in the past.
Senator Sani also slams El-Rufai’s leadership in Kaduna, alleging marginalization of Southern Kaduna and discrimination against Christians. The debate highlights political divisions and calls for more inclusive governance.
Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani, accused ex-Governor Nasir el-Rufai of hypocrisy, following criticisms directed at President Bola Tinubu’s led federal appointments.
El-Rufai expressed displeasure over alleged favoritism towards Yoruba candidates in key roles, urging Tinubu to embrace “sensible inclusion ”over “arrogant exclusion.”
Sani responded by highlighting El-Rufai’s silence during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which he claimed was marked by nepotism favoring Buhari’s kinsmen.
According to Sani, individuals who once ignored inequality perpetrated are now vocal because the current administration does not favor them.
He further criticized El-Rufai’s tenure as Kaduna governor, accusing him of marginalizing Southern Kaduna and fostering division.
Referring to El-Rufai’s administration as an “apartheid state,” Sani alleged systemic discrimination, particularly against Christians, citing a viral video where El-Rufai admitted excluding Christians from key positions due to their voting patterns.
El-Rufai’s leadership has faced longstanding criticism for promoting inequality and neglecting certain groups within Kaduna.
