By Daniel Edu

The verified Instagram account belonging to Nigerian artist Habeeb Olalomi Oyegbile, widely known as Portable, has fallen victim to a hacking incident reportedly orchestrated by suspected fraudsters.

In response to this unfortunate incident, Portable’s management has issued an official statement addressing his fans and the general public, urging them to disregard any content emerging from the compromised account. The statement asserts that active efforts are underway to rectify the situation and recover the account.

The statement issued reads as follows: “We deeply regret to inform you that Portable’s official Instagram account has been compromised and taken over by unidentified fraudsters. We understand that this event may lead to concerns and uncertainty among our devoted fans, and we want to assure you that we are actively engaged in resolving this issue.”

The statement further cautions that the hackers might be masquerading as Portable and potentially disseminating misinformation, fraudulent activities, and content that could be detrimental. Consequently, the management emphasizes the importance of disregarding any messages, posts, or solicitations originating from the compromised account.

Portable’s team emphasized that they currently lack control over the content being disseminated from the hacked Instagram account since the time the hacking was confirmed by them.

The statement continues: “Immediate measures are being taken to regain control and restore the account to its rightful owner. During this period, we kindly ask for your patience and unwavering support.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused and want to assure you that we are devoting significant efforts to swiftly address this matter. Portable deeply appreciates the unwavering support and affection demonstrated by his fans and remains committed to safeguarding your interests.”

“We thank you for your understanding and collaboration during this challenging time. Together, we will overcome this unfortunate incident and continue to relish the music and artistic contributions of Portable.”

It is noteworthy that Portable recently announced his plans to embark on a tour across ten cities in the United States from September 8, 2023, to March 23, 2024.
