Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has officially left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a decision that has sparked significant reaction within the party.

Yusuf Dingyadi, the Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman of the PDP, expressed that Bafarawa’s exit is a painful development. He noted that the party is undergoing drastic changes in its efforts to survive and refocus its priorities.

“While it is painful, we respect his decision as it stems from his perception of his personal interests. However, we will continue to engage with him and seek to bring him back,” Dingyadi said. He emphasized that Bafarawa’s departure does not signify the decline of the party but rather poses an opportunity to strengthen its future success.

“Political parties are like barracks. Whenever you see soldiers leaving, others are bound to come in. This is not a setback for our party; it is a challenge we will overcome and emerge stronger,” Dingyadi added.

Bafarawa’s departure has raised questions about the future of the PDP in Sokoto, as well as the broader political dynamics in the region. The party has vowed to remain focused on its goals despite the setback.
