Sokoto Police Command Gets Boost From Force Headquarters, Abuja

The Inspector General of Police has deployed additional state-of-the-earth anti-riot and crowd management equipments, police mobile force, special forces personnel and crowd control asset to checkmate political thuggery and related electoral offenses to adequately secure the forthcoming Election in Sokoto.

The release by the Command’s spokesman DSP Sanusi Abubakar said Police in Sokoto are fully prepared for the Guber/State Assembly Elections says CP Gumel as Sokoto residents should forget about the peddling rumors around insecurity and prepare for massive turnout at polling units where to cast their votes to persons of their choice freely and unmolested.

He said the Command begins training of elections security personnel on the use of the newly acquired anti-riot equipments.

The Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba has boosted the strength of Sokoto Police Command in areas of personnel, anti-riot equipment, armored personnel carrier (APC) and additional operational vehicles in preparation for the police and other security agencies to collaboratively provide required security for INEC to conduct the forthcoming Governorship, House of Assembly and Supplementary elections scheduled to hold on 18 march, 2023 and the subsequent time. Already the Units of Police Mobile Force, Special forces and Armored Personnel have arrived the state together with the APCs and gun-trucks among other operational vehicles purposely to augment the existing security architecture and to properly checkmate political thuggery and related crimes before, during and after the polls.

In the command desire for full utilization of these assets, the Command has embarked on training and retraining of all its personnel on these anti-riot equipment and get them prepared to tackle head-on any group who may want to plan for indulging on any act of mayhem during the poll.

In view of these developments, the Commissioner of Police Sokoto State Command, *CP Muhammed Usaini Gumel FIPMA,psc* is assuring members of the public to keep calm and at the same time warning trouble makers to stay away from causing problems during the poll as the Command will use all necessary forces and would do everything within their operational guidelines in conjunction with the Millitary and other security agencies to subdue any unwanted act that will disrupt the poll comes 18th march, 2023.
