Speaking during the decoration of the officers, the state Police Commissioner Muhammad Useini Gumel said as part of the welfare drive to police officers found worthy of hardwork, clean service records and character by the Inspector General of Police, 18 Officers were today decorated with their new ranks.
Speaking further, the Commissioner said there was a directive from IG to all Commands and Formations to immediately commence a special visibility policing operations across the country.
In compliance with the directives, Sokoto state Police Command began crime mapping, identification of vulnerable points and massive deployment of personnels on motorized and foot patrols in addition to utilization of intelligence on targeted locations where several raids on criminal hideouts were undertaken.
Gumel lamented that security situation in recent times shows a concerning trend of an increase in the threat posed to the nation by terror elements which includes bandits, kidnappers, and other highly organized and mobile violent criminals syndicates.
Meanwhile, suspect who specialize on theft of motorcycles was arrested by the command while two other suspects in connection to the case as receivers were also in the police custody as investigation is still ongoing.
